Spooky things happening at Gilwell Park

Everyone has a fear, be it the dark, clowns, spiders, heights – imagine an event where you could confront them all at once! Welcome to Scarefest!

Several hundred Scouts and Explorers will spend the last weekend in October exploring the spookier side of Gilwell Park. With special themed activities and late night scares you are guaranteed an action packed weekend. Participants dare to travel from far and wide in the promise of a good scare and Scarefest 2019 will certainly deliver.

While the scare seekers await the hours of darkness there will be plenty to keep you entertained with inflatable fun on the Giant Slide, The Sweeper and Cave system. “I really enjoyed the inflatable caving, it was so much fun in the dark with a torch” said Hannah Raymond, 12, Dartford Scouts, Kent. There was the opportunity to get into character with face painting, and spooky fun with rubber band alley, as well as traditional games including Sweets in Flour and many more activities.

One of the groups this year said: “We’ve been four times and it’s the favourite camp of the year for most of our Scouts. They enjoy the activities, the theme, the independence. It’s fun!”
